AO/OTA Fracture and Dislocation
Classification Compendium—2018

The 2018 revision of the AO/OTA Fracture and Dislocation Classification Compendium for adults and children addresses the many suggestions to improve the application of the system, as well as add recently published and validated classifications.

To provide users with a more streamlined, concise, and clinically relevant tool, changes to terminology and typography were made, a review of the codes with regards to frequency and applicability was conducted, paired bones (radius/ulna and tibia/fibula) are now coded individually, all fracture illustrations were newly produced, and a list of universal modifiers and qualifications was introduced.
